Going Offline: The First CSF Event

On January 27, the first CSF offline event took place in downtown Odesa. The meeting was part of the Wikimarathon, an initiative aimed at engaging young people in editing and contributing to the Ukrainian Wikipedia. Needless to say, our doors were (and always will be!) open to everyone! Now, let us share the results.
Expectation vs. Reality: How It Went
We hoped to bring together like-minded people and increase the number of freely available academic articles in Ukrainian. At the same time, we wanted to create a welcoming atmosphere, share useful information to enhance astronomical knowledge, develop fact-checking skills, and enjoy a great time with our readers and guests.
“We have been communicating with you solely online for so long! And we want to go beyond the virtual realm more often, to discuss space news together, and see your expressions — not just your reactions,” emphasizes CSF's Communication Unit.
The event was joined by 11 enthusiasts (out of 15 interested)!
We introduced participants to CSF's projects; explained how everyone can contribute to the development of the Ukrainian Wikipedia and helped them choose article topics. In addition, it was a great opportunity for everyone to network, exchange knowledge and experience, and receive fun gifts from our team (just between us: it was exclusive CSF swag, and everyone loved it! We are thinking about making it publicly available!)
“Everything was awesome! The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. I liked that you thought everything through: the presentation, the tea break to talk about mutual interests! All the links and videos were sent to our chat for free access after the meeting. It was very convenient,” shares her impressions Anna Brynza, a student of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University.

We are not going to stop there; we are only gaining momentum!
“On January 27, the CSF team took its first small step to the moon, the first offline event, which is not to be the last. We are preparing a lot of interesting things for you, both online and offline. stay tuned for updates, and let's make discoveries together!” sums up Anastasiia Lukashuk, Head of CSF's Communications Department and event organiser.
